Windsor Castle

Marvellous as our capital city is, a trip out of it makes you appreciate our beautiful countryside and how our Island Story unfolded – and Windsor Castle, so much in the news recently, is a great example of that!

About The Tour

A typical day tour on foot is the best way to sample its delights at an easy pace. It would take us to the Queen’s favourite weekend retreat, where she now resides almost full time.

The best way to start is to use our rail network to get there. We go from Paddington station, making one simple platform change to arrive in the heart of Windsor yards away from the old station and in the heart of the town.

As well as seeing the Castle that has now reopened to visitors, we can take a walk round Windsor itself, visiting the magnificent Long Walk that leads up to the Queen’s front door that we all saw on television during the Sussexes wedding carriage ride.

When the Guard Change is on, we can watch it either inside the Castle or the streets outside.

And no Castle visit would be complete without a look inside St George’s Chapel where Her Majesty the Queen led mourners at the recent funeral of her husband, HRH the Duke of Edinburgh.

There are plenty of places to eat and to shop too. Nearby alongside the River Thames, is the famous Eton College, the top private school attended by many of our prime ministers as well as William and Harry.

So, the perfect way to see a bit of the countryside near to London, and at the same time learn more about our colourful Royal history.
